Follow these simple steps to set up MGID Pixel via GTM:
- Open MGID Ads Dashboard and either create or edit a campaign.
2. During the conversion tracking setup, select MGID Pixel via GTM as your preferred tracking method and save the campaign.
Configuring Conversion Tracking in Google Tag Manager
1. Log in to your Google Tag Manager account.
After creating a GTM container for your website, the first step in configuring conversion tracking is to add the MGID Pixel code to all pages. If you have previously used the MGID Pixel template and see notifications like the ones in the screenshot below, update the template before proceeding.
2. Navigate to the Tags section and then click New.
3. Add the Tag name (e.g., MGID Pixel) and press the pencil icon to edit the tag configuration.
4. Navigate to the Template Gallery and enter MGID in the search bar. Then, select the MGID Pixel.
5. As a next step, fill in the MGID Client ID field (find your MGID Client ID by clicking your profile icon within the MGID Ads dashboard) and select the Base Pixel option.
6. Click on the Triggering section and choose All Pages (Page view trigger type).
7. Click Save to save changes.
Configuring URL-Based Conversion in Google Tag Manager
1. To create a URL-based conversion, navigate to the Tags section and then click New.
2. Add the Tag name and press the pencil icon to edit the tag configuration.
3. Navigate to the Template Gallery and enter MGID in the search bar. Then, select the MGID Pixel.
4. Fill in the MGID Client ID field and choose the Main goal under the Event Pixel option.
This process mirrors the MGID Ads Dashboard settings – Main goal is the bottom of your funnel. Additionally, you have the flexibility to define Additional goal 1 and 2 to track mid-funnel and top-funnel conversions correspondingly.
5. Click the Triggering section and choose Page URL trigger from the list.
If you don’t find a suitable trigger in the list, simply click the “+” icon to create a custom trigger that fits your needs.
6. Add the trigger name and select the Page View trigger type for it.
7. At this stage, you need to determine which part of the link (or the entire link) will be used for the trigger.
8. Complete the fields as shown below, replacing the placeholders with your actual data, then click Save to confirm your settings.
Here’s how the configured tag should look once it's set up correctly.
To apply any changes made within your container, be sure to click Submit.
