MGID Dashboard Settings

Start by creating an event and Postback URL in the MGID dashboard.

Follow these steps:

  1. Create a new advertising campaign or edit an existing one by clicking on its respective icon in the dashboard.

Redtrack_mgidads_1

2. Navigate to the Conversion tracking section and select the Postback option in the Tracking settings tab.

3. Add a new conversion goal and create a unique name for the goal. We recommend adding the client’s ID to the goal name (e.g., test_even_123456). In addition, you can select an existing goal.

RedTrack accepts only 4 types of conversion goal’s names:

  • approved
  • pending
  • declined
  • other

Repeat these steps (i.e., add another goal) if you want to track more than one conversion goal.

4. Fill in the Postback URL. It can be found in advertising campaign settings in MGID Dashboard, and it will look like this:

https://a.mgid.com/postback/client_ID?c={ref_id}&e=test_event&r={offer_payout}

Where:

  • client_ID is a unique parameter for our system that is transferred to our system alongside the event's status.
  • c is a click ID’s macro. For RedTrack, replace the {click_id} with the {ref_id} macro.
  • e=test_event is a Postback goal identifier that can be displayed in the form of a {status} macro or status name.
  • r is an optional parameter to which conversion revenue can be transferred. For RedTrack, replace the {revenue} with the {offer_payout} macro.

The required fields are filled in with the values from your template.

Redtrack_mgidads_10The click_id parameter is taken from the Tracking Tags in the advertising campaign settings in the MGID Dashboard. Other parameters can be added if necessary.

Create a new offer

Follow these steps:

  1. Click Offers and then Create.

Redtrack_mgidads_12

3. If Revenue is transmitted, please fill in the Payment field in dollars. The option to fill in an Affiliate Network will be offered from there.

The Postback URL is formed in the offer to transfer conversions from the landing page (site) to the RedTrack tracker.

 If the revenue is not transferred, the Payout field should equal 0.

Create a new campaign

Create a new campaign in the ResTrack dashboard.

  1. Click Campaigns and then Create.

Redtrack_mgidads_13

2. What’s worth your attention during the creation of a campaign?
  • Traffic: Choose the traffic source.
  • Redirect: Type of redirection from RedTrack to landing page (site).
  • Offers: In the Offers menu, a previously created offer should be selected.
  • Click URL: Initially, the Campaign URL field in RedTrack will not be filled; however, the link for this field will appear after saving the campaign.

From there, you need to specify the links to the teasers in the MGID Dashboard.

Transferring Postback to RedTrack

After setting up the MGID Dashboard and RedTrack, it is necessary to set up the transfer of Postback to the RedTrack tracker either on the site, or on the landing page.

A POST request transfers Postback to RedTrack. A link to the request is taken from Campaign URL settings.

The link should closely resemble this:

https://rdtrck2.com/postback?clickid={click_id}&txid={status}&sum={payout}

Link parameters:

  • clickid is Redtrack’s internal click_id, which is transferred to the end of the link after redirects;
  • txid is the transaction id. In this case the parameter should be sent to Postback goal identifier;
  • the sum is an optional parameter necessary to transfer conversion revenue.

You can choose any handy option to transfer Postback to Redtrack, e.g. using JavaScript from the site or PHP from the server.

Verification of Postback URL Settings

Next, we recommend that you ensure postback setup was done successfully and is working properly. You can verify the setup by following this instruction.
