Setting Up CPC in MGID Ads

This article covers the CPC (Cost Per Click) flow in the MGID Ads system

Introduction

MGID operates on a pre-payment CPC (cost per click) model. Our platform supports setting up the desired CPC both at the campaign and ad levels.

When creating a new campaign, the CPC field allows you to set a default cost-per-click for all new ads that will be added to that campaign.

Although the ads creation flow is separate from the campaign creation flow, every ad must be linked to a specific campaign, and the CPC value set at the campaign level will be inherited to any new ads that are created.

However, it’s important to note that changing the CPC at the campaign level does not affect any existing ads within that campaign. The adjusted CPC value is only applied when new ads are created, and any changes to the CPC on the campaign level only apply to future ads. To change the CPC for existing ads, you need to do this at the Ad level.

The CPC field at the campaign level is designed to provide consistency and efficiency when adding new ads to a campaign. It ensures all new ads start with the same default CPC while still offering the flexibility to adjust the CPC for each ad.

The CPC configuration is an important step, which you can set during the campaign creation process at the Budget and Limits stage. Keep in mind that this CPC will automatically apply to all new ads added to the campaign.

1. CPC_setup

If your balance is in USD, the CPC will be in USD cents.

The system displays a suggested range of CPC alongside the Your CPC section. We recommend reaching out to your manager or using our live chat to speak to an agent for more tailored advice. This way, you can obtain the most suitable CPC amount based on your specific product and the current competitive landscape.

Setting up CPC at the ad level

All new ads added to the campaign will inherit the campaign-level CPC automatically. To adjust the CPC for a particular ad, navigate to the Ads interface and click on the CPC number next to the ad to make the desired adjustments.

2. CPC_setup

To adjust the CPC for ads that were created before you adjusted the CPC on the campaign level, navigate to the settings of each individual ad and manually update the CPC.

Changing the CPC at the campaign level will not automatically change the CPC for existing ads. This change will only affect new ads created under that campaign.

Example of CPC set up:

  • You set the CPC at the campaign level to $1 during the campaign setup.
  • After the campaign is running, you create a new ad, and it inherits the campaign-level CPC of $1.
  • You decide that this ad should have a CPC of $1.50. From there, you manually adjust the CPC in that specific Ad’s settings.
  • Existing ads will keep their original CPC unless updated manually.
