Security Check and Advertising Policies

FAQ

At MGID, maintaining a safe, transparent, and trustworthy advertising ecosystem is one of our highest priorities.

Every advertisement delivered through our platform affects advertisers, publishers, and the users who interact with that content. Security Check helps protect everyone in this ecosystem by identifying potential security risks before and during campaign delivery.

Our goal is to prevent malicious content from reaching users, protect publishers from unsafe advertising, and maintain a trusted environment where advertisers can promote their products and services with confidence.

Why Does MGID Perform Security Checks?

Security Checks help protect every participant in the MGID ecosystem.

Protecting Users

Users should be able to interact with advertisements without being exposed to malware, phishing attempts, deceptive experiences, or other security threats. Security Check helps identify content that could compromise user safety or undermine user trust.

Protecting Publishers

Publishers rely on MGID to deliver safe advertising experiences to their audiences. Continuous security monitoring helps reduce the risk of harmful advertisements appearing on publisher websites, protecting publisher reputation, preserving user trust, and contributing to a safer browsing experience.

Protecting Advertisers

Advertisers benefit from a secure advertising ecosystem where their campaigns appear alongside trusted content and are not associated with malicious or deceptive advertising. Maintaining a safe advertising environment helps protect brand reputation and strengthens user confidence in digital advertising.

How Security Check Works

Security is an ongoing process rather than a one-time review.

Before a campaign is approved, MGID performs automated security checks and, where necessary, additional compliance review to identify potential security risks before ads begin serving.

Because websites, landing pages, redirects, and third-party technologies can change over time, security monitoring continues after a campaign has been approved.

Continuous monitoring helps ensure that advertisements remain safe throughout their lifecycle, even if changes occur after the initial review.

What Is Reviewed During a Security Check?

Every campaign undergoes a comprehensive security review designed to identify behavior that could pose a security risk to users, publishers, or the advertising ecosystem.

The review includes:

  • advertising creatives;
  • landing pages;
  • redirects;
  • scripts and third-party technologies;
  • user interactions after clicking an advertisement.

During the review, Security Check may identify security risks such as:

  • malware or malicious content;
  • phishing attempts;
  • deceptive or misleading experiences;
  • unauthorized redirects;
  • suspicious landing page behavior;
  • browser-locking or intrusive functionality;
  • cloaking or content that changes depending on who is viewing it;
  • other security-related risks that may compromise user safety.

If a security issue is detected, the associated Security Alert provides additional information about the identified issue.

What Happens If a Security Issue Is Detected?

If a significant security issue is identified, the affected advertisement may be rejected or temporarily paused to help protect users and publishers.

Each rejection includes a Security Alert with additional information about the detected issue, helping you identify the affected element of your campaign.

Once the issue has been resolved, you can resubmit your advertisement for review.

Why Can an Approved Campaign Be Rejected Later?

Approval does not end the security review process.

Landing pages, redirects, website behavior, and third-party services may change after a campaign has already been approved. As a result, active campaigns continue to be monitored throughout their lifecycle.

If a new security risk is detected after launch, the campaign may be reviewed again and restricted until the issue has been resolved.

Continuous monitoring is an essential part of maintaining a safe and trustworthy advertising ecosystem.

What If I Believe the Detection Is Incorrect?

If you believe your advertisement was flagged incorrectly, you can contact your MGID representative or the Support team to request an additional review.

Each request is reviewed individually and, where appropriate, additional investigation may be performed before a final decision is made.

Security Check and Advertising Policies

Security Check evaluates potential security risks associated with advertising campaigns. It complements MGID's Advertising Policies, but does not replace them.

To be approved and remain eligible for delivery across the MGID network, campaigns must comply with all applicable MGID policies and platform requirements.

FAQ

1. Why was my campaign rejected?

Your advertisement may have been rejected because Security Check identified behavior that could pose a risk to users, publishers, or the advertising ecosystem.

2. Does a Security Reject mean my campaign violates MGID policies?

Not necessarily. A Security Reject indicates that a potential security risk was identified during the review and must be resolved before the advertisement can be served.

Once the identified issue has been resolved, you can resubmit your campaign for review.

3. Can I submit my campaign again?

Yes. Once the issue has been resolved, you can resubmit your advertisement for review.

4. Will every campaign go through Security Check?

Yes. All campaigns undergo a security review before launch and may continue to be monitored while active to help maintain a safe advertising ecosystem.

5. Why does MGID continue checking campaigns after approval?

Websites, landing pages, redirects, and third-party technologies may change over time. Continuous monitoring helps identify newly introduced security risks and ensures that advertisements remain safe throughout their lifecycle.
